Moral Quandry 2

Last Tuesday after choir rehearsal, the choir went for a beer at the local pub. I had an extra bad with me and left my regular black bag - or man purse, as F and I have taken to calling it. I thought I might have left it in the choir dressing room, so I wasn't worried. (I had to pick up my robe for a performance yesterday.) Turns out it wasn't in the choir room. So I went to the pub and asked about it. I eventually got it. It was empty except for a coaster which said, "Have a Nice trip. J@twelmeyer.com"

I pulled up the website. It's a German language website that doesn't look like it's doing much right now. I e-mailed him and said, "I just retrieved my bag. Does the note on the coaster mean that you'd like to return my Palm to me? I live in Amsterdam."

I was thinking today that if I had to choose one thing, of all the things, to be returned, including: the bag, a book, and the Palm, I would choose the bag. So I got my wish. But it sucks that I don't have my Palm. It had all my addresses in it and I wasn't able to sync it to my computer. I kept thinking I would do it later. Can't do that now.

What confuses me in a karmatic way is that about a month and a half ago I went to a lot of trouble to return a guy's wallet and keys to him and I tried to get the guy who had is ipod to sell it to me so I could return it too. The guy wouldn't sell it. And really, what can you do after that? I have to work with people. I can be the morality police. I just gave him the option.
