It's Friday

I've been having some slight technical difficulties. For some reason, after installing the new iLife '08 (or whatever it is) the pathway to get pictures up to either my Flickr account or to my Blogger account has changed. So I have to do this whole other pathway thing, which is sort of a pain in the neck. But whatever. It shouldn't stop me from writing, but it's one more excuse for me to use.

The good news is that the twins of both my fingerless glove and my first official wearable pair of socks are both finished. I got that sock done in about a week, which is pretty good for me. I wasn't going crazy knitting it. It was more a spare time thing. Of course I like to knit for an hour in the morning, so that was some time right there. I'm totally loving the gloves, sort of can't wait for it to get cooler here. I went and bought some more of the same wool in a different color (gray) so that I can do them after I finish my next pair of socks. I've decided to try to knit a pair of socks at the same time using the Magic Loop method. I was encouraged by Ellem to drop the idea I had to do two socks on two circulars. Amazingly, the Magic Loop is working out. It's sort of intuitive. A little futzing around, but it's doable.

The bad news is that I didn't get the job I mentioned in my last post. It was a great school with small classes, would have been a dream. But the found someone who could teach English and German, which is what they wanted, so they went with her. Oh well. I'm reminded of my lesbian nun friend, Diane, who would always say, "Rejection is God's protection." She said it in reference to dating, but I've seen it apply to jobs too. There are some other possibilities I'm looking at. They're sort of better possiblities. It's all about possibilities, isn't it?

I'm up at 1:25 again. This time I think it's just a caffiene thing. I never really went to sleep. I woke up at 4:00 the other morning because I was worried about getting a job. I don't think that is what this is about. Fred's pretty chill about it. I have food and shelter. I'm not that worried.

I've also been a little uninspired about writing lately, but I heard something today that gave me some ideas, and I think it's going to be okay.

What pattern did you use for the gloves? They look more elegant then the Knucks "" off Knitty.

Well, thanks. They're cuff up (as opposed the Knucks) and they are called "Men's Fingerless Gloves." I just got them off the Internet at: http://www.knitlist.com/00gift/mens-fingerless-gloves.htm

Sorry that you didn't get the job.

But hey, I'm glad to get you converted on to MagicLooping two socks at once! ;-)

Great job knitting both the gloves and the socks!
