Having been reared in Texas, and having spent quite a bit of my life in New York City, I am sort of used to summer being really hot, sort of sticky. That "Where can I find some air conditioning?" sort of feeling. Since I've been here, about three and a half years, I remember only about a week per summer where I thought,
This heat is oppressive. I can't get comfortable. I can't sleep. Remember that there is rarely "
airco" anywhere here.
This summer has had it's day here or there when it's sort of hot and gross, but nothing to write home about. It's mostly been wet and sort of chilly. We went out this evening and I needed a jacket! It's July 1! The other day Fred said, "It's another shitty summer." By this he meant that it's not hot and sunny. I'm always grateful that it's not hot.
As I've said many times, I prefer the gray overcast weather. In Texas it was always a relief when it was overcast. I don't like the sun beaming down on me. The wet I can do without. It just means another layer - or biking around carrying an umbrella, which I am not above. Still, it
befuddles me that it's so chilly and it's July.
Of course we'll be going to sunny,
un-air conditioned Croatia for vacation. But that's vacation, and it's okay for vacation to be hot. Hotels tend to have air conditioning.

I prefer the cooler weather, too...actually I'm a winter kind of person (chose the right place to live, didn't I?). All the more reasons to knit. :-p
Hi from a Ravelry in Den Haag! I'm from Texas too and spent 12 years in hot/muggy DC. I have to say that I miss the hot and muggy. The weather lately has been making crazy. I want to sit outside and soak up some Vitamin D! The heatwave is supposed to be on its way though.
Call me the worst person in the world, but as I always say, better late than never.
Andy, I've been terrible at thanking the people who visit my site, let alone the ones who comment and/or pass the word along about my site.
So, Thank you for reading. I'm sorry that I haven't posted anything worth while in a long time, but I do promise to get back on track shortly.
Thanks! And I hope you come back when new material is up...
