M is for Molen

Molen is Dutch for (wind)mill. In our dictionary (van Dale), the 'wind' is in parenthese (or round brackets, if your British) so I guess that means other types of mills are also called molen.

This picture was taken - I think - at Kinderdijk. Kinderdijk (pronounced: kinder-dike) is one of those touristy landmarks that you can visit when you're here. It's the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands. I've been there twice. The first time I was there, we took a boat trip down the canal and back. It's a nice way to see it, but if you're in a hurry...well, if you're in a hurry, you should probably just skip Kinderdijk altogether.

There are about a million postcards with pictures taken at Kinderdijk. It's a very easy place to get a good photo. I have a snap from my first trip with me wearing some wooden clogs - wooden clogs that someone actually wore every day - to work in an office! No, I'm kidding about that part. But people really wear them. It's not just stuff they put out for tourists.

And in case you're wondering what I'm doing posting these alphabet pictures, I'm really behind and I'm going to post L through T really quickly so I can catch up to the rest of the group.

You could catch up quicker if you'd copy the blogs on L to N that you wrote in July.
I like the previous "M" better, it's about Mokum.

I stand corrected. But they weren't tagged, so I missed them. Oh well. N is done. On to O. Thanks.
